How to Choose the Right Pet Bed Size for Your Dog or Cat
A pet bed should fit the way your dog or cat actually sleeps, not just their weight category. Measuring your pet is the simplest way to avoid a bed that feels cramped or unnecessarily large.
Measure your pet while resting
Measure from the nose to the base of the tail while your pet is lying in a comfortable position. If they normally stretch out, include that stretched sleeping posture rather than measuring only when curled up.

Add room for movement
The bed should give your pet space to reposition, turn around and settle naturally. Raised-rim beds can have less usable interior space than their total outside dimensions, so compare the actual product measurements carefully.
Think about sleeping style
Pets that curl tightly may prefer a more enclosed, nest-like shape. Pets that sprawl or sleep on their side often benefit from extra surface area.
Check the bed's location too
Measure the spot where the bed will live. A correctly sized pet bed still needs to fit comfortably beside furniture, inside a crate where appropriate, or in the room you plan to use.

Do not rely on breed labels alone
Two pets of the same breed can have different body lengths and sleeping habits. Product dimensions and your own measurements are more useful than a generic small, medium or large label.
